Bullying Prevention Curriculum

Evidence-based curriculum that is built on a foundation of the CDE Model Policy, Colorado Academic Standards, and CASEL framework.

CDE Model Policy:

The Colorado Department of Education (CDE) is authorized by C.R.S. 22-2-144, also known as "Ashawnty's Law," developed a Bullyiing Prevention and Education Policy called the Model Policy.

In addition, in 2021, Colorado Legislature passed HB 21-1221, also known as "Jack and Cait's Law."

This law requires CDE to use a stakeholder process when updating the Model Policy and that parents of students who have been bullied must be included in the process.

Additionally, this law states that the policy concerning bullying prevention and education for all school districts in Colorado "shall ensure that the school district's policy, at a minimum, incorporates approaches, policies, and practices outlined in the model bullying prevention and education policy developed pursuant to section 22-2-144.

PEER Kindness designed our Bullying Prevention Curriculum based on the best practices listed in the Model Policy.

Colorado Standards:

Did you know that the Colorado Academic Standards have Comprehensive Health Standards that directly address Bullying Prevention & Education between Grades 1-12?

Our lessons are a great way to supplement your current Social & Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum. Each lesson provides the standard, grade-level expectations, and the outcomes listed.

CASEL Framework:

In addition adding the Model Policy and the Colorado Academic Standards, we've incorporated CASEL's SEL Framework. The five broad, interrelated areas of competence are: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.

These five competencies are evident throughout our Fundamental Five lessons.

The presenter at Hotchkiss K-8 School was outstanding. They came to the school prepared, energized, and ready to engage with students and staff in a timely manner. I would highly recommend PEER Kindness to come to your school.
